Al commits suicide and Tris gets closer to Four

Tris is saved by Four from Drew, Peter, and Al who she found out about after Four told her and she is completely confuesed why Al would do anything to her. Four tells Tris that she needs to make herself look weak so that she doesn't get attacked again and that she was attacked because she was strong and first in the last progress report. Later Tris sees her friends and tells them what happened and they promise to protect her. Then Four takes them to the Dauntless mill where he explains what will happen next in their training and in stage 3. Then when they return home they find Al who has been crying but when he tries to talk to Tris she gives him the cold shoulder and says " Stay away from me, ... Never come near me again,... If you do, I swear to God I will kill you, you coward" (Roth 300). That night Christina wakes Tris up and they find out that Al jumped into the Pit and committed suicide.

At Al's ceremony, Eric makes him a hero and calls him brave because of what he did and all of the people cheer for it and love it. Tris doesn't like it though so she leaves but is caught by Four who has a long talk with her about Al and about why he has sort of been protecting and leading her the right way. She feels guilty about Al's death and Four cheers her up hugging her and giving her a Kiss on the forehead. Also from all of their talking Tris thinks Four might be from Abnegation because he says something that the members of Abnegation learn but doesn't say if he is or not. Then Tris, Will, and Christina are throwing papers of Erudite criticizing Tris' father into the Pit and Tris snaps on Will after he says something about Erudite but Christina stops anything from happening then Tris sees Four wandering around late at night and goes over to see what he's doing and she wasn't disappointed either.
